Salt Water Pool vs Chlorine in Dubai: Which Suits You?
How salt and chlorine pools really differ in Dubai's heat, from water feel and upkeep to scale, corrosion and converting an existing pool.
On Palm Jumeirah, almost every home faces the sea, so pools, gardens, glass and metalwork need more care here than anywhere inland.

We are called most often for swimming pool services, landscaping services and glass & aluminium solutions here. Every other service on our list is available too.
Frond villa pools face sand, salt and heavy summer use, so regular cleaning, chemical balance and equipment checks keep them safe to swim in.
We plan and maintain gardens that cope with salty soil and sea wind, and fix irrigation lines blocked by sand and salt.
Sea-facing sliding doors, windows and balustrades lose their seals and smooth movement quickly in salty air.
Shaded terraces and beach-side seating are popular on the fronds, built in materials chosen to resist corrosion.
Villa split and ducted systems, and their outdoor units, need more frequent servicing when exposed to salt and humidity.
Roof terraces, balconies and pool surrounds on older villas often need resealing to stop water reaching rooms below.
The issues we see most often: salt spray on every surface; pools, sand and wind; gardens on reclaimed land; rules for villa changes.
Frond villas sit metres from the water, and wind carries salt across gardens, roofs and terraces. Aluminium frames pit, steel fixings stain and outdoor AC condensers corrode faster than on the mainland. Regular washing and marine-suitable fittings make a real difference.
Palm pools catch sand and debris blown off the beach, especially during shamal winds. Filters clog sooner and water chemistry swings in the heat. Pumps and lights also need attention more often in a salty setting.
Villa gardens grow on reclaimed sand with salty groundwater close to the surface. Not every plant copes, and irrigation lines and drip emitters block with salt and sand. Choosing tolerant plants and checking irrigation regularly keeps gardens green.
Structural changes, extensions and new outdoor structures on the fronds usually need approval from Nakheel and, for some work, other authorities. Even like-for-like replacements can need a notification. We check what is needed before we start.
Our maintenance services on Palm Jumeirah cover beachfront villas on the fronds, apartments along the trunk and the residences on the crescent. The island was created by Nakheel, and the first owners moved in during the mid-to-late 2000s. Nakheel still oversees the master community, while apartment buildings have their own owners' associations and management companies.
The Palm has three distinct parts. The trunk carries most of the apartments, including the Shoreline buildings, Golden Mile, Marina Residences and the newer towers around Nakheel Mall and The Palm Tower. The fronds are lined with private villas, each with a garden, a pool and a strip of beach, plus clusters of townhouses and garden homes near the base. The crescent around the outside is mostly hotels and branded residences, with Atlantis at its centre.
Most villa owners here hold their homes for the long term and many have already extended or remodelled. That means we often work on a mix of original Nakheel finishes and later upgrades, from shaded terraces to replaced glazing and redesigned pools.
Each frond has a security gate, and contractors are normally checked in against a visitor pass or a work permit arranged with the community or the homeowner. For larger villa jobs, a permit from Nakheel's community team is usually needed before work starts, and some work requires a separate approval. Apartment buildings on the trunk run their own permit systems, with service lifts and loading bays booked in advance. Permitted noisy-work hours apply on both villas and towers. Traffic on the trunk can be slow at peak times, so we plan arrival times with this in mind. Please check current requirements with Nakheel or your building management.

How to tell a pool leak from normal evaporation in Dubai, using the bucket test, a simple water-level log and a check of the usual leak points.
In summer, most Palm pools need attention at least weekly, because heat, sand and heavy use change the water quickly. In cooler months, the interval can stretch a little. We check filters, pumps and chemical levels on each visit and tell you if any equipment is starting to fail. Our summer pool care routine explains what to watch for between visits.
In most cases, yes. New outdoor structures on the fronds usually need approval from the master developer, and the design often has to follow community guidelines on height, position and materials. We can prepare drawings and details for your application and build once you have the approval.
Start by washing salt off frames and rails regularly with fresh water. Light pitting can often be cleaned and protected. Badly corroded hinges, handles, screws and rollers should be replaced with marine-suitable parts. Where frames or rails are failing, we can quote for replacement in a more resistant finish.
Yes. We work in the Shoreline buildings, Golden Mile and other trunk apartments on AC servicing, plumbing, painting, glass repairs and renovations. Each building has its own permit process, and we arrange it with management before the visit so access is ready on the day.
Dubai Marina is a waterfront of high-rise towers, and the sea air, humidity and tight building rules shape almost every repair we carry out here.
We look after apartments in JBR's 40 beachfront towers, where salt air, blown sand and a busy promenade shape every repair.
We repair and update villas across Umm Suqeim 1, 2 and 3, from long-standing family homes near the beach to new rebuilds close to Burj Al Arab.
